Designing a Safety App
Meaningful Works partnered with SiriusXM to design a mobile application that brings best-in-class safety response to drivers and their loved ones, in and out of any vehicle. Designed as a white-label solution, the app was built to scale, giving automotive partners the ability to make it their own while delivering the same reliable safety experience underneath.

The Challenge
SiriusXM Connect needed a mobile safety app that could hold up in genuinely high-stakes moments, a crash, a driver who feels unsafe, a family member trying to check in, while also being built for scale from day one, ready to white-label for future automotive partners.
Our Approach
Research
We partnered with SXM's product and development teams to assess the competitive landscape, auditing both direct competitors and indirect ones to see how core features like emergency contacts and crash detection were being handled across the category. We also worked through fragmented existing documentation to clarify requirements and get front-to-back-end alignment before moving into design.
Key Decisions
Built a tokenized, multi-tiered design system on iOS and Material 3 baseline components so the app could be efficiently white-labeled for future enterprise customers.
Designed a real-time family and location map with custom "bubble" components for tracking people and places at a glance.
Designed a Safety Alert flow that lets a user notify family and authorities directly from the map when they feel unsafe.
Designed automatic Crash Detection with a 14-second countdown before dispatching emergency response, giving the user a clear window to confirm they're okay or need help.
Mapped distinct SOS flows for two audiences, the user initiating an alert and the account holder monitoring it, since their needs and permissions differ.
Outcome
Built a complete safety product, real-time family tracking, Safety Alerts, and automatic Crash Detection, on a tokenized design system ready to white-label across future automotive partners.
